SOBBA encourages the sharing of information, best practices and in particular lessona learned from pitfalls and failures among all its stakeholders. In keeping with this principle, SOBBA will update its news and events sections with all kinds of useful materials. This will include articles, whitepapers, imagery and video content where applicable for the public viewing and sharing of all our farmers, partners, and interested persons. A blog section is also included to engage atakeholders in providing timely contributions and topics for debate.
The news and events section of the SOBBA website is divided into Articles which will feature not only SOBBA generated materials but related material from other sources and stakeholders. The Events section is where any trainings, planting operations information, forums, workshops and business meetings organised by the AECF or its partners may be highlighted for you knowledge and in many cases attendance.

RACIDS-Financial and Business Development Assistant
July 28-July 30, 2014
RACIDS Agriculture (based in Uganda) consults with SOBBA management team, directors and trains the production team on prudent agricultural business development and financial management. The visit was conducted by RACIDS managing director Simon Kimani (see profile on website: www.racids.org) This training assistance was held at SOBBA Corporate office located at 23 Percival Street Freetown, and ended on final day with a tour of SOBBA’s farm and seed store. During the visit Mr. Kimani covered prudent agricultural business practices using tools that will enable SOBBA to streamline its financial practices and strengthen internal controls that will in becoming a prudent financial business.

SEMIs training In Kenya
May 25-June 8, 2014
The managing director of SOBBA Initiative (SL) LTD attended the Seed Enterprise Management Institute (SEMI) 2-weeks course conducted by the University Of Nairobi sponsored by The Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). The courses included; seed production, drying, processing & storage course, filed tours to two seed production companies (one of which is the leading seed producing company in Kenya). For a budding seed production company, it was an extremely invaluable insight into the seed multiplication business. The manager was exposed to a whole range of vital and “must–do” agronomic and processing practices that were totally unknown to me in the seed business.

Annual Kick-Off Planting Meeting
May 11th & 12th 2014
SOBBA commences its 2014 planting season by clearing its first 25 acres of land on the Blama Mirimi-Khumalo FarmThe annual kick of meeting for all SOBBA contract farmers and farmhands was held on at all three SOBBA's farming locations. The meeting was attended by SOBBA's contract farmers, Women Farmer groups, seed sellers and youth farming groups.
